ᴺS. !thag- v. “to draw, pull” (Category: to Draw, Pull)

ᴺS. !thag-, v. “to draw, pull” [created by Hialmr] (Category: to Draw, Pull)
G. hal(a)- “to drag, draw, pull”

A neologism for “to draw, pull” coined by Hialmr on 2018-01-18 in the Vinyë Lambengolmor Discord Server (VLDS) based on √SAK “draw, pull”, one of the roots Tolkien gave as the basis for Q. sahta- “to induce” (VT43/23). Hialmr’s theory is that this root might be salvaged by assuming it was revised to *√THAK, so that it could blend with √THAG to produce Sindarin words like úthaes “*temptation”. This can be justified by Tolkien’s indication that the ancient form of the Quenya verb was þahta- despite its derivation from √SAK. While I think this is a bit of a stretch, I think that the benefits of having a verb thag- for “pull” that is different from ᴺS. log- “drag” are worth it, so I retain this neologism despite its somewhat dubious derivation.
