Dan. short [ŏ] became [a] in Primitive Danian; [ŏ] > [a]

Dan. short [ŏ] became [a] in Primitive Danian; [ŏ] > [a]
In Primitive Danian, a short [ŏ] became [a]; this change also applied to the diphthongs [oi] and [ou] which became [ai] and [au] (PE19/25-6). This change is notable as one of the few examples of a short vowel changing in one of the Eldarin languages. A similar change occurred in Proto-Germanic, where primitive short [ŏ] and [ă] merged in [ɑ] (ref/@@@).
