ᴹQ. pusta- v. “to stop, put a stop to, cease” (Category: to Cease)

ᴹQ. pusta-, v. “to stop, put a stop to, cease” (Category: to Cease)
ᴱQ. #pusta- “to blow”

A verb appearing in The Etymologies of the 1930s with the glosses “to stop, put a stop to, and intr. cease, stop” under the root ᴹ√PUS “stop, halt, pause” (Ety/PUT). Tolkien added another entry ᴹ√PUT where pusta- was glossed “to stop”, but the entry for ᴹ√PUS was not removed.

Neo-Quenya: For purposes of Neo-Quenya, I would use pusta- for both transitive and intransitive “stop, cease”, but would assume it was derived from *put+tā- and/or *put+tă-.
