The Quenya name of the leader of the Nandor (S/54). Its final element is the suffix -wë common in ancient names, and its primitive form ✶Denwego meant “Light-and-active” (WJ/412). See the entry for his Nandorin name, Nan. Denweg, for further discussion.
Conceptual Development: In earlier linguistic notes from the 1930s (PE18/24) and Silmarillion revisions from the 1950s-60s (MR/169), his Quenya name was Nano or [ᴹQ.] Nanno.
