ᴱQ. tarwe n. “cross, crucifix” (Category: Cross)

A word appearing as ᴱQ. {taure >>} tarwe “a cross, Crucifix” in the Qenya Lexicon of the 1910s under the early root ᴱ√TARA¹ having to do with crossing (QL/89). ᴱQ. tarwe “cross” also appeared in the contemporaneous Poetic and Mythological Words of Eldarissa (PME/89).

Neo-Quenya: In Tolkien’s later writings, the root for “across” became √THAR, but I think ᴺQ. tarwë “cross” might still be used, especially in its sense “crucifix”, based on the later root √TAR “stand”.
