It was mentioned in the contemporaneous Gnomish Lexicon in its stem form ᴱQ. vald- as the equivalent of G. bald (GL/23), elsewhere translated as “worthy, important; great, mighty” before being revised to G. {bald >>} bâl (GL/21).
